Autodesk Gallery 2.0
In 2023 I joined NGX Interactive as Producer for Autodesk Gallery 2.0, a ground-up reimagining of Autodesk’s flagship gallery at One Market in San Francisco. The gallery sits inside a carefully renovated heritage space at the heart of Autodesk’s global headquarters. It is the brand’s most important touchpoint, and it shows how Autodesk tools help innovators everywhere achieve the “new possible.”
The Experience
The gallery blends documentary film with large-scale physical objects, camera-triggered interactivity, projection mapping and hands-on tactile exploration. An AI-powered, multi-user design challenge invites visitors to explore collaboration for the communities of the future. Augmented reality runs on wireless tablets, giving the executive audience a crisp, uncluttered experience. Anonymized engagement tracking lets Autodesk and NGX see how visitors use the space and shape its ongoing evolution. The Future Communities exhibit also traveled to the Smithsonian’s FUTURES exhibition at the Arts and Industries Building.
My Role
As Producer, I led a team of twelve through the implementation phase, from the final assets through to installation and launch. Autodesk’s work involved a wide range of disciplines, including augmented reality, touch interactivity, coding, UI/UX, video editing, motion graphics and game design. I acted as the bridge between those specialists and the client. That meant translating between creative and technical teams, keeping Autodesk’s stakeholders informed at every stage, and making sure every piece landed in the space as designed. We delivered on time and on budget.
The project also meant coordinating with an extended group of partners: West Office, Cinnabar, BBI Engineering, Fuse Project and Official. Keeping that many specialized teams pulling in one direction is the part of producing I enjoy most.
What I Took From It
My strength is piloting teams with very different skills, and this project used all of them. I’m happiest collaborating with talented artists, designers and technologists to make an ambitious idea real, and Autodesk Gallery 2.0 was a chance to do that at flagship scale. The client’s own words are the best summary of how the work felt:
“NGX embodies what it means to be a collaborative partner and creative leader.”
